“I’ve been thinking,” Eddie starts, and he feels Buck shift next to him, making himself comfortable, giving Eddie his full attention. The steps that lead up the porch aren’t that wide, so they’re both pressed against each other, shoulder to shoulder, arm to arm, thigh to thigh. Eddie swallows, his heart beating uncomfortably fast. He can’t quite meet his best friend’s eyes. “And I’ve been researching.”Buck says, “Okay,” and nothing else; he’s giving Eddie time to get there on his own. There’s no rush. As far Buck’s concerned, they’ve got all the time in the world.(Or, Eddie has realised some things about himself, and he tells the only person he knows he can trust with absolutely anything.)
