Summary
New years is a time for celebration; the end of the old year, and the success of everyone's jobs. Jobs well done deserve parties, and parties are a North thing to do (or at the very least a Yeti thing to do) but Jack isn't into the whole 'party festive gathering' thing. And he's gotten good at squirreling himself away.
When Bunnymund finally finds him, it's three hours past midnight, and past traditional kissing hour, but three hundred years is a long time to go without being introduced to an old tradition.
