There are some days where Ponyboy wonders if it had all been a dream—then he’d get a whiff of baloney or he would catch a glimpse of a photograph of Johnny Cade, looking tuff and forever sixteen, and Pony would remember that it had all been a truth. His fourteenth year of life had been one of tremendous pain. Though the very same could be said about his thirteenth year as well.
