Smalltalk and sunshine

“What do we want done today, Mr. Undvik?” Jaskier asks when the other man sits down in the chair, and Jaskier wraps the cape around him.“Eskel, please,” Eskel says, tilting his head to the side to allow Jaskier to pin the cape closed. When Jaskier’s knuckles brush against warm skin, he notices how Eskel tenses slightly.“Alright Eskel, then please call me Jaskier,” he says warmly, meeting Eskel’s eyes in the mirror. “What do we want today? A trim, a streak of color, a shave?”Eskel ducks his head slightly and Jaskier takes the liberty of freeing the hair from its ponytail prison, trying to get a sense of what he is working with.“A trim and a wash?” Eskel asks, and Jaskier smiles, clipping on his working belt and puts his hands on Eskel’s shoulders.There is a tension there, and Jaskier will be damned if it's still there when Eskel leaves. That’s not his brand.
