Summary
In a stunning example of not even reading the normal print, much less the fine print, Asuka found herself in possession of Shinji's soul. Desperate to be of some use to NERV, Shinji put forth the idea of the both of them piloting a Unit, inspired by their remarkable performance at the end of the battle against Gaghiel. They both knew that such a system would require testing of some sort, and soon enough, the two of them found themselves in a simulation together. Piloting a simulacrum of Unit-02 together, the two of them didn't even notice the synchronicity of their impatient actions, their brash words, or their concurrent thoughts. Outside their chamber, Doctor Akagi and Captain Katsuragi decide to pull the plug, only to realize too late that something went wrong. Someone went missing, and whoever crawled out of the Pribnow Box wasn't either of the two kids that went in.
