Summary

Meng Yao is depressed. It’s a fact. The unbranded generic sertraline that seems to stare at him every morning from his nightstand is a bright reminder. The brain fog, the sluggishness, and the sensation of being a spectator in the sad show that’s his own life are among the glaring symptoms. He has managed to have at least a few good things in his life, though. He still has his job. He got into uni (one year late, but he got in) without acquiring massive debts. He’s got people looking out for him. And he’s managed at least to keep his interest in music. It took him a very public humiliation months after the funeral to be able to pick up the habit again, and all of his mother’s vinyls and cassettes are buried deep inside the closet. But it’s okay. He’s growing, developing his own music taste and making new friends through it. And that must mean something, right?_____________Music left a strong mark on Meng Shi and thus, it marks Meng Yao’s life too. This is a collection of moments in both of their lives where their love for music saved them.
