He could imagine himself standing beneath it, the light grazing his cheek, offering him soft comfort and protection. Even the moon would have been a better guardian to him than his parents were now. Sirius wouldn’t have to chase her, because he’d know that she’d return to him each and every night. And even if he couldn’t see her, he’d grasp her presence in the tiny, sparkling stars.The grinning shadow in the window, flooded by the moon light, went unnoticed by both of the brothers. A shadow beckoned by the stars to protect their favorite children.
