Consistency

He’s come to expect the arms around his shoulders, the gentle touch of his wrist, the way Kabru will physically pick him up and move him out of the way when he’s somewhere dangerous.It—would be inaccurate to say he likes it, not that he dislikes it, but. Mithrun doesn’t like anything, hasn’t for a very long time, so—He expects it, though. It’s a consistent part of interacting with Kabru, and in a world where Mithrun is struggling to find his place in the absence of a “greater purpose”, he appreciates consistency. In fact, Kabru is consistent in a lot of other ways, not just with the touch. Yes, he adapts to suit his environments—Kabru is a smarmy person, just putting it bluntly—but he’s always the same when he comes back to Mithrun, a little careworn smile on his face, a hand sweeping through his curls.---Mithrun and learning how to want again.
