When Kris grabs a beer and turns again, he is finally face to face with the mystery of the breakfast bar. He doesn’t know what he expected, but now that he sees it, he should’ve known it’d be drugs. A handful of small purple pills, now being divided among the excited onlookers.“You want one too?” one of them asks, catching Kris’s eyes for just a second.“Uh,” he makes intelligently. “Maybe not right now.”The person shrugs, disinterested. He didn’t expect them to be pressuring him but he’s still glad that it doesn’t happen. Side-eyeing the group, he opens the bottle with the opener on the bar, before leaving them to their business and returning to Jan.Only—Jan is gone.“Fuck’s sake,” Kris curses when he arrives back at the entrance to find it completely void of his friend. He stretches, trying to get a look over the heads of the masses, but to no avail.
