a near-perfect miss

Bakugou and Midoriya climb a mountain, both literal and metaphorical.

“We’re in the middle of a mountain,” Bakugou says, words particularly enunciated, as if he’s pointing out something so incredibly obvious that he shouldn’t have to deign to explain it. “In the thick of Mother fucking Nature. I’m not saying that hiking up a trail is some primeval shit, but it sure as hell isn’t the place for a goddamn social function either, so save the verbal bullshit for a different time and place, alright? Just –” he exhales, and then jabs a finger into Midoriya’s chest “– Fucking walk, Deku. It’s not that fucking hard to comprehend.”

Midoriya doesn’t comprehend what Bakugou is trying to communicate here in the least. His eyes dart from Bakugou’s face down to where his finger is pressed against Midoriya, tries to convey his confusion via mental waves. I don’t understand what you mean by that at all, Kacchan! he desperately thinks, and gloriously fails at spontaneously developing a telepathic quirk, judging by the fact that Bakugou turns back around and begins marching on.
