"Better clench your teeth, Suiko,” Naaza warned the Trooper, although he knew the boy was unlikely to understand him. “I’m more than halfway done, but there’s still quite a bit to stitch back together.” He pulled slowly on the thread he was harrowingly using to suture the boy’s wound, his own jaw clenching as Suiko kept screaming from the pain.

“You really didn’t miss him,” Rajura noted, his eye wary as he took in the size of the cut, spreading disinfecting and numbing paste all over the edges of the wound – or at least, the part Naaza had gotten to. “He’s lucky to still be alive.”

Or, after his attempt at capturing Suiko no Shin took a sour turn, Naaza and the rest of the Masho must scramble to save the boy's life.
