Memory of a Warm Place

After a raid gone wrong, Stede wakes up with amnesia. He is fascinated because he obviously finally pursued his dream of being a pirate. Izzy is looking after him the most so Stede jumps to the conclusion that this must be his pirate lover the crew keep mentioning. Everyone is having a time with this, and insecure about the situation.-“How long have we been together?” Stede asks Izzy beside him.Across from him, Ed nearly chokes.Izzy’s expression is incredulous. “Wha- Bonnet?”Stede fiddles with his napkin nervously. “Roach and some of the others mentioned it. My boyfriend. And I figured, well.”“That’s not-” Izzy starts. Ed kicks him under the table.But Stede knows if he stops now he’ll lose his nerve so he plunges on. “I understand it must feel strange to bring it up, given that I hardly know you, now. But I feel a bit as though I do. Know you, that is. And I. I don’t want to fuck this up again.”Ed shoots Izzy a complicated look across the table that Stede can’t even begin to read. But Izzy must be able to decipher it, because he deflates, the arguments going out of him with a sigh.
