It was Jason who heard the rumor that Black Mask had a new acquisition that would make him an obscene amount of money. Considering the man had been dabbling in human trafficking lately, they’d all been more than a little worried about the implications. Just who had he caught that would fetch him a lot of money? It was while they were investigating the rumor, that Batman, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Robin stumbled upon a captured, injured mer—a creature that, up until that point, Bruce had thought was a mythological being.Bruce didn’t have enough time to marvel over the fact that mers were real before said mer, who told them his name was Dick, dropped a few more facts about the world and Bruce’s family that made his reality shift yet again. Dragon, angel, or phoenix, Bruce didn’t care what his children were—and yes, that included Dick now. He only cared that they were safe…something that he was afraid would be easier said than done.
