Summary
After Spike sided with Buffy and left Sunnydale, his relationship with Drusilla was rocky. Which led the crazy vampire to provide Spike more motivation to be dedicated to her and their little family. Drusilla decided that Spike needed someone to care for, now that she was strong, and brought a human for him to turn. (Similar to Interview with the Vampire). And her plan worked, somewhat. Spike is certainly devoted to his new vampire offspring.
