Summary
Things have changed since the island. Ian cannot return home until he's released from the hospital. He can't visit his daughter or his sons. He can't begin preparing for the fall semester, since his computer and all of his curricula from prior semesters, and all of his pertinent notes, are back home in Austin. Yet he doesn't want to just lie around in the hospital waiting for the next dose of morphine. There has to be something he can do get his life back - or, if nothing else, a distraction; something to think about other than pain and bad memories while he waits for his leg to heal.Meanwhile, Sarah Harding's father has hinted to her that there's something she's going to want to see; something he's been working with - yet when he returns early from the island and invites her to go hiking, and then barely says a word, she knows something happened. He can't tell her without violating his non-disclosure agreement, but he implies as much as he can. Sarah knows what she has to do - go to Costa Rica and find out where the injured scientist her father mentioned is hospitalized. Perhaps he will tell her what she needs to know - and perhaps somehow she'll find a way to get to the island.Eventually.
