“I live a few blocks down that way, officer. I’m just trying to get home. Listen, my name is Eddie Diaz and I’m off-duty LAFD. This is my first night off in like two weeks. We don’t have to do this” Eddie says, releasing the grip on the bag in his hand just enough for Atkins to snatch it out of his hand. He almost leaps forward but he remembers that Atkins’ hand is still on his gun and instead, he takes a step backwards, creating some distance between him.
