Summary
Bilbo looked over the battlefield one last time before slipping his ring back on and heading for the mountains. He should’ve gone with the elves, should’ve gone to see the others, but he knew he was not wanted. He knew Thorin’s hate better than most and knew that there was no way on Middle Earth that he was going to be forgiven anytime soon. So he headed home, back to the Shire, with some gold in his pockets, a sword, and a heavy heart. But he would not stay in the Shire forever.
