Derek’s got his hands in his pockets and he’s staring down at Stiles’ parents’ headstones. He shrugs, looks up at Stiles with serious eyes. “I’m sorry,” he says quietly. “I kind of remembered that today was – look, don’t take this the wrong way. I used to pay a lot of attention to you, back in high school.”Stiles blinks.“Like – because I liked you?” Derek says, but it sounds like a question, like he’s not sure how Stiles is going to receive the news. “So I liked to learn about the things you liked. I wanted to – to say something. When the accident – when you – I’m just sorry.” Derek pulls a hand out of his pocket and reaches up to scratch the back of his neck.
