Summary
Marlene (Mal to those who know her father) Jordan is a young orphan with an attitude the caretakers refer to as "willful". She knows they mean "stubborn" but, in an orphanage being used for unethical aeronautics and space experiments, she doesn't really care to differentiate. The stars call to her, she'll go to them (someday sooner than later, patience is a virtue but science is a never-ending machine that tears her up and spits her out into the cosmos).
