The hallway ghost, or how the crow began to believe in ghosts…

If there was something that all the medical staff whispered as a shared secret, it was that, no matter if you were a believer or not, there was a certain aura of unease inside the hospital at night that even made the most skeptical doctors hardened by years and the nurses with a whole career of experience feel shivers in their bodies, especially when it was rainy days.

“Please, those things only exist in your imagination,” he would say while checking the pile of files to be updated, not even looking at the nurses trembling next to the coffee machine. “Here the only thing that truly scares me is the crappy budget they give us to keep this place afloat, not the supposed spirits of the hallways. Now stop the nonsense and get back to work.”

However, exactly that night, when the storm roared with a singular spectral fury, with the windows trembling from the thunder and lightning while the wind whistled through the cracks and the rain fell with such force it seemed the whole building floated in a sea of shadows, exactly that night something changed for Karasu.
