Summary
Arthur was minding his own business, enjoying the peace and quiet of the outdoors as he wrote notes in his journal, lying against the roots of a tree, when something small but hard thunked against the thick cover of his book. It knocked his hands; his lead dragged across his page.
Disturbed, he glanced around and saw nothing. Saw no one.
It was autumn, and hard to see what may have hit his journal amongst the leaves and nuts and husks that were cascading onto the forest floor. Whatever it was, “It had better not happen again,” he warned the woods around him.
