The Best Thing

It was wildly different than being roommates back at the academy. Back then it was all brand new and even one another’s bad habits were sort of endearing. Now they lived with them every single day. Reality had set in, and those habits were enough to make Jin want to strangle the guy sometimes.Naito looked at him over the rim of his glasses when he said, “You’ve been ranting for nearly thirty minutes now.”Oops. Jin didn’t know what came over himself. He crossed his arms and muttered, “I have a lot to complain about.”Naito’s gaze fell to the teapot on the coffee table. He poured himself a refill while he asked, “If you’re that bothered by his nonsense, then why are you still dating him?”Jin’s brow furrowed at the question. His expression remained unchanged and his tone as serious as could be when he replied matter-of-factly, “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”Silence followed. Neither Naito nor Jin had anything else to add. After what would’ve been an awkward amount of time for anyone else, Naito asked, “Have you told him that?”“Hell no.” Jin grunted. “He’d become insufferable if I did.”
