Notes Between Us

A stressed, overworked band director and a reluctant, tightly-wound psych teacher never planned to orbit each other—until a simple favor after school forces their worlds to collide. What begins as a broken printer and an awkward introduction turns into something quieter, warmer, and far more dangerous: a slow-burn unraveling neither of them is prepared for.

It’s the little things that do it.The routine brushes of hands when passing papers. The late-night texts that start with logistics and end with something softer. The lingering conversations in empty hallways long after the final bell.

As the band prepares for competition and the semester grows heavier, those small moments begin to echo—pulling them closer, loosening their defenses, and blurring the line between obligation and something achingly tender.

Two teachers. One unexpected connection. And a slow, steady unwinding of the hearts they’ve both tried so hard to protect.
