The Ballard of Zoë Nightshade

The journey across America had been as much of a race against the clock as it had been a timer on her life. Perhaps she had been overly ambitious to assume their quest would be anything other than down to the wire, as Thalia had put it. Still, Zoë had not thought it like that she would spend her final full night on earth around a coffee table, speaking the tale of her gentle sin to Doctor Frederick Chase. Zoë was a Huntress, after all, THE Huntress that her sisters looked to for guidance, for support and for resolve. A Huntress did not have a wife, and yet, Zoë had come to terms with leaving hers behind.
