Hallelujah makes himself vulnerable because he's more than a little in love and hopes that doesn't make him a fool.

“Well, it’s weird, isn’t it?” Hallelujah replies, making an attempt at a shaky smile. “You know, being a half-demon in general is. But especially turning into something… not human in the middle of making out. Like, objectively speaking, that’s… pretty much the dictionary definition of abnormal.”

There’s a pause. Nanashi’s face gives away nothing about what he’s thinking, and normally Hallelujah admires that about him – how collected Nanashi is under most any circumstances, the fact that his even-tempered presence gives him an authoritative air that Hallelujah tries his damn best to imitate when sliding into his role as the Ashura-Kai’s new boss. But in those few seconds of silence, Nanashi’s impassivity feels instead like they’re hands being drawn around Hallelujah’s neck, and he can’t quite bite down the fear that they’re there to choke him.
