Summary
“I love you,” Shōta says, his face flushed and his pupils blown. That’s what finally brings Hizashi back down to earth. Because those words aren't something Shōta would ever realistically say to him. Well, not without some sort of coercion.
**Author's Note:**
> **warnings:** aizawa's been affected by a love-inducing quirk so obviously there are some consent issues (both for aizawa and for mic who's trying to hold back aizawa's advances) but overall it's not too bad (e.g. aizawa stops when mic tells him to)
“Hizashi.”
“Yeah?” Hizashi asks as they pull apart, his breathing heavy. His mind feels a little hazy almost, and he’s half distracted from whatever Shōta’s going to say by the tingly feeling of his kiss-swollen lips and the heavy, solid weight of Shōta on top of him.
“I love you,” Shōta murmurs, and then leans in to kiss him again. Hizashi’s torn between kissing back and wanting to break the kiss long enough to return the sentiment.
In the end, though, he just wraps his arms around Shōta and holds him as close as he can – holds tight enough that hopefully Shōta will realize that he never wants to let go and –
And the loud blaring of Hizashi’s alarm clock breaks him abruptly from his dream.
“Fuck,” Hizashi groans, waving his hand around blindly until he finally manages to hit the off button. Then, he spends a long moment staring at his bedroom ceiling, afterimages of the dream still flickering through his head.
It’s not an unfamiliar dream. In fact, it’s probably more familiar than it should be, although this time it’s been a couple of weeks since he last had it. He can still almost feel the phantom sensation of Shōta’s lips against his and Shōta’s body pressed up against him. Eventually, though, he sighs, dragging a hand over his face, and gets out of bed.
He knows how to handle this dream: he just has to push it to the very back of his mind and go about his day pretending that he never had it.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
When he gets to UA, he takes one look at his desk, piled with ungraded papers and sighs, before going to the far corner of the staff room to start up the coffee maker. Normally he doesn’t need much coffee in the morning – he already had some with breakfast at home – but he’s feeling particularly drained today, and he hasn’t even gotten through teaching his first class.
He’s halfway through his first cup when Shōta stumbles into the staff room. Hizashi blinks at him for a moment, frowning as he takes in the sound of Shōta’s labored breathing. It almost looks like he’d _run_ to get to UA, and Shōta’s never been a fan of moving quickly unless it’s absolutely necessary.
“Hizashi,” Shōta says, his eyes fixing intently on Hizashi as he makes his way across the room.
Before Hizashi can ask him what’s going on, though, Shōta leans in and kisses him squarely on the lips.
For a moment, Hizashi finds himself frozen, scarcely able to believe what’s happening. Shōta’s mouth is warm and wet against his, though, and Shōta kisses him with a mixture of enthusiasm and desperation that makes all rational thought fly out of Hizashi’s mind.
However, all too soon Shōta breaks the kiss.
“I love you,” he says, his face flushed and his pupils blown.
That’s what finally brings Hizashi back down to earth. Because as much as he might want to hear Shōta say those words to him, they aren’t something Shōta would ever realistically say outside of his dreams.
Well, not without some sort of coercion.
“Shōta – ” Hizashi says, trying to keep Shōta at arm’s length as he goes in for another kiss. Now that Hizashi looks more closely, there’s something _off_ about Shōta’s expression, a slightly clouded look to his eyes that makes Hizashi wonder if he’s entirely there.
“Hizashi, I want – ” Shōta starts, crowding further into Hizashi’s space.
“No you don’t,” Hizashi says firmly, mostly to Shōta but partially to himself.
“I _know_ what I – ” Shōta snaps, frustration clear in his tone.
“ _Stop it_ ,” Hizashi says sharply, and Shōta finally quits struggling against him, going very still. “Did someone attack you this morning? Any strangers approach you?”
