"Chapman cleared his throat. “I say, Rudyard,” he said. “You look like you haven’t been sleeping all that well lately.” The worst part, Rudyard thought irritably, was that he didn’t even look down at his script while saying it. He’d already memorised the bloody lines. “Yes, well I haven’t,” Rudyard read slightly woodenly from his script. “I’ve been sleeping on a mattress filled with straw and old bicycles. Hold on-” Rudyard lowered the script and shot Jennifer Delacroix an annoyed look. “Why am I the one sleeping on the junk mattress? Can’t I have the good one?” In an attempt to rescue the state of Funn Funerals' finances, Rudyard agrees to do a mattress advertisement for Piffling FM. He wasn't expecting to be co-starring alongside Eric Chapman - or for there to be a er, practical element to the ad spot. And to make things worse, there's only one mattress...

Georgie, Antigone, and Rudyard anticipate spending a nice, cozy Christmas Eve amongst themselves. However, as the night goes along, they come to the realization that Chapman's spending the night alone. The kindly, neighborly thing to do would be to invite him over ... as much as it might kill them.

The S.S. Piffling was anchored off the coast of Brighton when they spotted him: a lone man bobbing in a garishly painted kayak that was clearly not meant for open water. He was holding an axe instead of a paddle and was bleeding rather profusely from a head wound. “Oh, hi!” The man said, waving at them with the axe. “I think I might be dead?”Or: Timothy Stoker confronts his future. Eric Chapman confronts his past. Everyone else is just trying to get by between potential apocalypses.

Rudyard Funn went to his bed looking like himself. He doesn't, anymore.Rudyard and Eric swap bodies for a day and things happen. Freaky Friday AU, sort of. Just the body swap part.

Rudyard Funn runs a funeral home in the village of Piffling Vale. It used to be the only one. It isn't anymore.Rudyard is a cantankerous, taciturn man without height, charisma or any memorable features. Most people hate him - that is if they recognise him out of the context of his funeral home at all. He is quite used to that by now.But that all changes when, by a quirk of fate, he learns that someone on the island has developed some intensely conflicted feelings towards him.For the first time in his life, Rudyard has an admirer. If only he knew what to do about it! Eyes flailing, ricocheting in their sockets Rudyard cast a desperate glance about himself for an excuse, any excuse to further stall Chapman and finally blurted.'What about dinner?' This had the desired effect because Chapman's purposeful march petered into a stop.'Well, what about it?' He mumbled, facing Rudyard once more.'W-would you like to have dinner tonight?''I like to have dinner every night. Now, if that is all you wanted, I guess I might just-''More specifically, would you like to have dinner with me?''Oh, blimey. Well yes, bloody yes, of course!'

Calliope's first summer with her family at Funn Funerals ought to be an exciting time, but when a fight with Antigone sends her flying to Chapman's for an internship, it seems as if Calliope and Rudyard aren't going to get the summer they hoped for. To make matters worse, as Chapman rallies Piffling Vale for the 30th Semi-Annual Piffling Fishing Tournament, it becomes very clear to Calliope that her new mentor might only want to get closer to her dad. Can she patch things up with Antigone and stop Chapman before it's too late?

"Don't think we get those sorts of spiders on Piffling, Ms. D," the man- Eric, apparently, ooh, what a shifty name- assures her, leaning in close to inspect Rudyard like a bug under a microscope. Which, to be fair, is rather closer to the truth than Rudyard would like. "We're a fair way from Australia!" "You never know these days," she says sagely, leveling Rudyard with her trademarked suspicious squint. "All sorts of things stowing away aboard ferries and hot air balloons and whatnot. One never can tell what might tumble out of the cargo hold..."For once, Agatha, Rudyard muses, returning this strange man's gaze with an eight-eyed glower of his own. I couldn't agree more. In which Rudyard is cursed to be even more unpopular than he's accustomed to, and Chapman is a charming newcomer with a soft spot for creepy crawlies.

Rudyard is naturally flattered when Calliope asks him to star in her short film for a school project. But things get heated when Chapman gets involved. ‘Eric.’ Georgie turned to their rival, articulating with care like she was talking to someone experiencing a stroke in real-time. ‘You want Rudyard to play the protagonist?’ ‘Yes, of course.’ He nodded with his characteristic, unshakable confidence. ‘Rudyard. As the handsome, well adjusted, relatable main character?’ Syllabized Antigone, dumbstruck. Suddenly, she remembered herself and turned to her brother. ‘No offence, Rudyard.’ ‘None taken.’ Rudyard simply conceded with only the slightest hint of underlying sadness.

opian. the ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye, which can feel simultaneously invasive and vulnerable—their pupils glittering, bottomless and opaque—as if you were peering through a hole in the door of a house, able to tell that there’s someone standing there, but unable to tell if you’re looking in or looking out.(It's a high school au what did you expect)

[Secondary school/high school AU] Rudyard should never have let Georgie talk him into coming to the stupid party at Chapman's. And he definitely shouldn't have agreed to play Spin the Bottle.

Rudyard Funn runs a funeral home in the village of Piffling Vale. It used to be the only one. It isn't any more. Rudyard has never been a happy man, has always been prone to fits of despair and bouts of misery and the funeral industry gave him little excuse to be merry. But he understands that birthdays are happy things and even he considers his very own an occasion of joy and festive cheer. After all, even Rudyard Funn couldn't ruin his birthday.Surely.
