“Do you think Bosco would like this one, Sokka?”Sokka blinks, waiting for the phone thrust on his face to come into focus, “uh? Is that a dog suit?”“Yes,” Kuei is smiling earnestly and openly, and Bosco perks up from where he’s basking in the corner, ears twitching at the sound of his name. “It’s for when he needs to look fancy.”“That sounds reasonable,” he nods seriously, then, because imagining Bosco at some fancy-ass party is kind of terrifying and there’s a client booked in fifteen minutes, he adds wistfully, “I would die for a coffee right now.”Kuei looks up from his phone. “Oh? There’s the Jasmine Dragon across the street if you don’t mind tea.”“Isn’t that the flower shop?”“Yeah,” he says like there’s nothing weird with that and then doesn’t elaborate on that.*or, the flower shop across the street from the tattoo parlor is more than it seems, Sokka has a crush, and Zuko learns how to deal with change.*or, summer love doesn't have to be on the beach. Sometimes, it goes on all year round.

The dinner party we've all been waiting for. In which I close out what was a canon-compliant story by sticking rainbow flags all over it.

… or essentially, how to go from a family of three to a family of eight (and an entire secret magician society). Set after Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. Atlas notices that Bosco did not go through the mission unscathed, and Atlas learns there’s more to Bosco than he realized. (Hurt with full comfort, found family vibes, and just a love letter to this movie)

“Here’s the deal,” Atlas says, voice clipped and short, stuffing his wallet back into a pocket to let an off-white envelope appear in his palm. “You’ve been robbing people at my show — it’s bad for my reputation. Frankly, I shouldn’t even be talking to you, and the only reason that I am is because I know telling you to stop would only make you double down and do it even more.” “You don’t know that,” Bosco says determinedly, and Charlie can’t stop the grin on his face as he turns to look at him. Bosco’s always contrarian solely for the sake of it, determined to disagree only because he can, and it would appear that not even meeting one of their biggest idols could stop him. “We could totally still be rational people.” “You pick pockets at pop-up magic shows,” Atlas says derisively, “you’re not rational people in the slightest. I know you’re getting a pretty good score, and me asking you to stop while offering no incentive is practically useless. So, here — I’m paying you to quit robbing my audience. Now, begone.” — After the Horsemen break up, J. Daniel Atlas isn't doing very well — until three kids keep robbing his audience. Somehow, they grow on him.

by serra_says
He loves the kids, and the Horsemen — he’s wanted them to come back for so long, despite the lingering bitterness that clouds every memory they’ve made, the searing ache of abandonment tainting every thought of his former teammates whenever he thinks of them for too long without the burn of alcohol on his tongue. He hadn’t known how to be alone when they’d left, and he’d spent so long trying to cope with the sudden isolation that he’d started seeking it out, as though to convince him that he’d wanted it in the first place — as though making it a choice could make it hurt less. He’d have thought he’d be thrilled to suddenly have the team back, all of them — and with the addition of the kids, the team’s never seemed livelier, brighter and closer than before, the three of them bringing an enthusiasm to the team that they haven’t seen in over a decade— and yet, now that he’s here, it’s all entirely too overwhelming to keep track of. — A house of eight people is— a lot, really, if you spent a decade isolating yourself from the world in silence. There's too many noises, and too many things happening at once — and unfortunately, J. Daniel Atlas has never been very tactful.

Here comes the million-dollar question: how do you tell your two best friends in the whole world that you’re in love with both of them? They wish they could say they fell into it. That they slipped and suddenly loved each other and all knew it. That one day they bantered over their kitchen island—Charlie chopping the vegetables, Bosco preheating the oven, June mixing the salad—and paused, looking at each other, really looking. That upon doing so, they suddenly knew. That they sorted out all the heats and flicks and flares of jealousy and hurt and want in one glance. That it was easy. But— June’s never been adept at falling: her feet are too quick, her legs too limber. Bosco fell once, and he takes great pains to ensure it never happens again: he’s not the kind of person to trust anyone to catch him, even after all this time. Charlie stumbles often—he’s used to falling flat on his face—but he finally has the chance not to, and he’s not giving in that easily.

It’s only because he’s waiting for it, hyper-focused on anything out of the ordinary, anything even the slightest bit off — that he catches it. Daniel laughs in response to something Martín said, a half-funny joke about profiting off the clients they provide for — and his voice is slightly too breathy, his following remark slightly too slow. It’s nothing overly noticeable, but it’s there — and Merritt grinds his jaw shut as he turns the volume of the radio up and focuses. It’s barely even there — only years of living with the man, despite the decade of distance between them all, have taught him how to recognise even the slightest differentiation. Daniel’s easy to read, once you get past the snappish remarks and dismissive arrogant air — his breathing is one of his biggest tells. He always speaks as though he’s about to run out of air in seconds, quick and rapid-fire and with an almost desperate undercurrent. He doesn’t sound like that, now. He sounds wrong. — During a con, Daniel's drink gets laced with a "truth serum"-like drug. It makes for an... enlightening ride back.

Bosco LeRoy is having a monumentally shitty day. First, he wakes up late, which wasn’t a problem when it was just him, Charlie, and June, but it’s not just them anymore, it’s them and the Horsemen. The goddamn Horsemen. He might’ve put on a show of nonchalance when Atlas first appeared in their hideout, but holy shit was it hard to keep a lid on it. He’s been idolizing J. Daniel Atlas since middle school, and there he was right in front of him, offering them not only a job but a chance to do something beyond swindling egotistical crypto bros and finance jerks. The last thing he wanted to do was to come off as an overzealous kid having bitten off more than he could chew, and now that he’s been welcomed into the Eye’s ranks that pressure has increased tenfold. So, waking up late? Out of the question. He would not have Atlas or Dylan or any of the other Horsemen thinking he wasn’t taking this opportunity seriously. - Bad Things Happen Bingo Prompt: Arm in a Sling
