"...former Headmistress Hei-Ran continues on, gesturing her head towards Jianzhu but looking at Kelsang.'Our children both have a crush on yours.'"That's literally it. Everything else is purely to justify posting that mental image.

“What happened between you and Rangi?” Yun lay stretched out on his back, arms under his head. “Caught her crying at the table when you left. Did you two fight or something?” A furrow deepened between Kyoshi’s brows at that, her brush strokes flying in wide, erratic swathes across the page. “We’re not friends anymore,” she said eventually. Yun rolled over onto his stomach to regard her with open surprise. The tip of her sleeve got caught in the ink-pot, pigment seeping into the threadwork like tar; she turned her face away from him for a closer look, but he caught a glimpse of her tear-stained face all the same. “We aren’t good for each other,” she said softly, and her voice broke. “It took us a while to realize that.” Or, alternatively: The one where Kyoshi works herself into a tremendous jealous fit because she thinks she isn’t good enough for Rangi; Rangi suffers through a crippling bout of passive-aggressive, sapphic insecurity because she thinks she isn’t good enough for Kyoshi; and Yun all but flings himself into a screaming, root-pulling paroxysm because they’re both being insufferable.

Rangi would only admit that whatever she felt or might feel for Kyoshi was impossible, only because they both worked for the Avatar. And...if Kyoshi was the Avatar… A collection of missing scenes from The Rise of Kyoshi from Rangi's point of view, set during her time as Avatar Yun's bodyguard.

Rangi is introduced to (almost) every person of the house the same day she and Hei-Ran move in, and the sheer amount of new faces and names threaten to make her head spin, but she quickly catalogs them in her head into important and less important, as is only logical. Out of perhaps thirty or forty people, Rangi has narrowed her worldview to five. That's doable. She doesn't meet Kyoshi that same day, though. (Truthfully, she's glad about that. She would've made a fool out of herself in front of the entire household.) OR: A Rangi character study focused (mainly) on her earlier relationship with Kyoshi.

Kyoshi and Rangi drink together at the mansion in Yokoya. Some truths come out. “Kyoshi was drunk, and Rangi was very pretty. Actually, Rangi had been pretty even before Kyoshi had been drunk, but sober-Kyoshi would never be able to admit that, drunk-Kyoshi posited. Sober-Kyoshi was a wimp, she decided, and Rangi was really very very pretty.”

“That’s not me,” she chokes out. The power that sleeps in her belly roars as anxiety washes over Rangi—in all of her years doing this, no one has ever recognized her, or even as much as accidentally guessed it. Kyoshi, blissfully unaware to her inner turmoil, only smiles some more. “I know,” she says, “you just remind me of her. You know—” A hint of redness creeps onto her freckled cheeks. “—your eyes, your hair a little, most of all your jawline.” A rangshi superhero/coffeeshop AU

This is the story of Kyoshi and Rangi as told by little snapshots throughout their life, starting from when they first meet. Mostly angst so be warned! (Promise a happy ending though).
