It’s an easy role to play, that of the cursed princess. An easier one than she’d had before, the princess that wasn’t, the brother that isn’t, the shield with cursed blood. At least now she has a purpose other than just existing. It’s easy to make people believe that she has renewed hate for demons, after the curse. Because that’s what’s easiest to tell people, that she was cursed by Byakuroku, lord of the forest. Only two people know otherwise and neither of them is talking.It has been winter for too long when she finally sees him, standing atop the torii gate, looking down at her like she’s a particularly interesting bug.
