Stories of encounters with him were enough to get you legendary status in most villages. Working at the castle was seen as the most desirable job. If only for the chance to catch a glimpse of the prince. He was alluring. He was stunning. He was unattainable. Joel was the son of a cook. An apprentice to his father. He was pretty, sure. But the kind of pretty that was attainable. The kind of peasant pretty that farm hands wished they were.
