Three incarnations of Neas, the Gladiator of Gallifrey, come together to protect two others. A teenage version of Neas's original life has somehow been ripped out of her timeline and into a post-Time War Gallifrey where she meets Al-Lee Kirsch, a lone human who is the descendant of Leela, an old companion of the Doctor's. Meanwhile, in 1996 Earth, a college professor has been targeted for assassination by a super-powered individual incapable of feeling pain or dying. And, on top of all this, Neas's father ("The Tinkerer") has been abducted for crude experimentation on a centuries-old Time Lord formula. How do all these plots connect?

Because it's where they visited many regenerations ago, with Gumball and Darwin Watterson, and nearly had their life consumed by a disturbing alien parasite capable of mimicking whatever form it takes hold of. Now, in their eleventh incarnation, the Gladiator returns to the dimension, mere hours before the events of the last journey. This time accompanied by Scarlet (the fifth incarnation of Neas's father, Aznavorian the Tinkerer) and Martha Jones (companion of the Doctor), as well as his past third incarnation (Jacee), Neas must survive his final (or first) confrontation with the "thing from another world"!
