The lights are on despite it being past midnight, and Steve can hear some loud crashing sounds even from where he’s standing outside. “Fuck it,” Steve says, deciding he better go in. He runs into the trailer at once, bat in hand, thanking whoever left the door unlocked. He’s taken aback at the scene. Max is kneeling on the ground, pleading with her mother to calm down.
