There’s a tragedy associated with that house, hidden within the overgrown firs. It mourns a family of seven, reputable within the village for their charcoal and kindness.A family inexplicably torn to shreds one doleful winter night. With only five bodies found, and those being found buried, the tragedy quickly grew into an infamous mystery, each villager harbouring their own theory. But Saburo knew. He knew from the claw marks ingrained into the walls, the broken furniture, the blood spilt across the floor. From past experience. He doesn’t know what happened to the other two. He just hopes he could have at least saved one of them. (Saburo encounters a pair of strangers heading into the mountain at night. Per customs and past experience, he obliges them to stay.)
