Moons ago, Hornetgaze was a warrior apprentice as Hornetpaw. He was ferocious, and bloodthirsty, and a deep darkness was found to be within him. His final days as a warrior apprentice involved the murder of his denmate, Vinepaw, and his mentor Birdwhisper. The previous ThunderClan leader, Mossystar, knew for certain that it was him as the one responsible for their deaths, but she was terrified of what he could become as a warrior. She had seen the deep darkness, and she had a plan.Apprenticeless and getting on in years, Morningstreak was given Hornetpaw to mentor in the ways of the medicine cat. Though Hornetpaw himself was unhappy with the idea, he couldn't speak out against his leader when he was just a child.
