Eyes suddenly open, it took him a few more seconds to process the situation and, more importantly,to hear the sounds of the blanket rustling to his left and . . . Oh. Immediately, he reached out to turn on the bedside lamp – struggling a little at first, unable to find the switch the first time in the pitch darkness –, then turned around to face his boyfriend. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyelids closed, his mouth twisted in a pained grimace, and his body trembling. And that quickly put him on alert.
