Zeff doesn’t believe for one minute his scrawny little Eggplant, who only weighs ninety pounds soaking wet, really managed to cook up a wealth of frozen fish to eat entirely on his lonesome the first time it happens. But he lets it slide anyway; and the second time too, and the third, until it becomes a regular thing, going on for a couple of months. Not every morning, but at least two or three times a week, Zeff notices a missing tray or empty box, and double checks his inventory to confirm yet another selection of meat has up and vanished.Clearly, Eggplant’s cooking and feeding the stuff to someone, and just as clearly doesn’t want to come clean about it.(In later hindsight, Zeff supposes he can understand why.)
