In that stupid funeral firefighter suit people wear when telling family members about their fallen heroes, not unlike the military. “He’s not dead!” Buck screams. “Go away, he’s not dead! He’s not dead!” Bobby reaches out to him, and Buck fights against his hold, pushing the older man away. “No! Don’t touch me! He’s not dead! He can’t be dead! Eddie is not dead!” -- Buck's life changes when he loses Eddie on a call and his body is never found. A funeral and a career switch later, Buck has to figure out how to live without the love of his life. He has to stay strong though because he needs to take care of Christopher. (Written for my 2023 prompts challenge: presumed dead)

Usually Venom kept him safe, but today they’d run into a doctor who used to work at the Life Foundation and she’d had some kind of machine that made a noise that knocked Venom out. Eddie somehow made it to his bed, letting out a high pitched yelp when he flopped down on it before passing out.

What’s burnable about that?”“I burned cereal once,” Shouta informed him. “Don’t question my cooking skills.”“Sho, babe, sweetheart, light of my life,” Hizashi said dramatically. “No offence, but there aren’t any skills to question.”“Shush,” Shouta said. “I had to deal with the deli over the phone to get this soup. And I burned my hand on the pot. Be grateful.”“You just told me to complain,” Hizashi pointed out.“... point taken.” Shouta frowned. “Eat your soup.”
