In This House We Worship Through Nesting
by the_untamed_poet25
Zhongli slithers around him—actually slithers, tail curling, wings shifting in a way that disturbs the ambient humidity—and Childe realizes he is not allowed to leave. He is, in fact, being hoarded. “Okay,” he says slowly. “This is, like. A thing, right?” Zhongli blinks. “A thing?” “Yeah. Like a dragon thing. Like the part where you—" He gestures vaguely around the den. “—nest and hoard stuff and get unreasonably attached to shiny things and start calling your boyfriend mine in a tone that suggests you’ll level a mountain if someone looks at him funny.” Zhongli doesn’t respond. Instead, the dragon lowers his head, breathes in at Childe’s neck, and growls. In which bleeding out is less dangerous than flirting while bleeding out in front of a dragon with hoarding problems. (Or, maybe Childe should stop getting mortally injured in increasingly creative ways if he doesn’t want Zhongli to hoard him like a limited-edition relic with attachment issues.)
