Merlin had expected the Dorocha to kill him; he never considered that the voices of the dead might demand something far worse. As a dead foe lies through Merlin’s teeth, compounding Merlin’s own lies, Merlin’s friendships crack and crumble around him. Perhaps the only way to battle the vengeful, icy darkness within is to shed his lies and step into the light.
