Life is Not a Storybook

by Compass_Rose

Patton and his sixteen-year-old son, Roman, didn't come into this world in the usual way. They weren't born into it; they fell. Into a portal from another realm, a realm where monarchies are the primary form of government, indoor plumbing has yet to be invented, and magic is as real as the air we breathe. That was seven months ago.Nowadays, Patton just tries to blend in. He runs a bakery in the small town of Lockevale and does his best to forget about a world he no longer has anything to do with. A world he shouldn't have anything to do with. But when one of Roman's friends discovers an artifact Patton had hidden away, the baker finds that the past is only ever as far away as your memories allow--and that a lie can be the most dangerous thing of all....Because only a lie has the power to destroy trust.

Patton and Logan were happy. Virgil was not. Roman could pretend to be if he tried hard enough. Patton and Logan had been holding hands since their time ran out and Roman was waiting to see all the Disney movies in full color. Virgil… Virgil didn’t have a soulmate. The victim of merciless torment at his high school, he made a decision to be accepted to the preppy academy on the other side of town as soon as possible. The high school Roman, Patton, and Logan all happened to be attending. Their paths start to crisscross and merge and the four boys learn a thing or two about what being someone’s soulmate really means.Based upon a "prompt" off Tumblr. Patton, Roman and Logan all have one thing in common and that thing? Loving Virgil with all their heart. They come to a reluctantly agreement to get along, because sharing Virgil between them is better than not having him at all.
