Summary
When Shouto Todoroki is 4 years old, he encounters this disease for the first time when he is told that one of his brothers is dying. He remembers his eyes flooding with tears as his little hands clutched onto his mother’s sweater with desperation. He was frantically questioning why? Why would his brother rather die than get the surgery? His mother hugged him, attempting to soothe his cries. She responded with “Sometimes, when you love someone, you’d rather die than let them go.” He never understood her response. Shouto is now 19, and is learning just what she meant all those years ago.
