As the headsman raised his axe, the dragon landed on the guard tower to Ariadne’s left and let out an unintelligible shout. In the middle of the afternoon, the sky grew midnight black and flaming stones rained from the clouds from which the great beast descended just moments ago. Without haste, Ariadne pushed herself up from the block and stood, finding herself among more dead than alive. “WHAT ARE YOU? BLIND?” Someone yelled, causing Ariadne to turn her head. “MOVE IT!”
