Some Nights Are Darker Than Others

There are nights such as this one, when Jiang Cheng wakes up and finds the other side of his bed empty, sheets already cooling down. Those first few times when this happened, Jiang Cheng panicked and rushed out of the bed, hair and clothes messy. It's still unsettling and he thinks that he might never get rid of the anxiety that starts growing inside of his chest. But he already knows what to expect, what he will find once he steps out from his rooms.
