In an alternative timeline to Episode 9, Rey and Kylo Ren are growing closer as Rey realises that Ben can help her in her struggle against the dark side. Ever since the death of Leia, her mentor, Rey has heard voices, and seen visions, that suggest she is becoming more and more susceptible to the darkness that infects the galaxy. Reluctantly, she turns to Ben for help, and in their conversations, she finds out that the 'choice' to embrace the darkness is much more complicated than she previously thought.This is a revised and expanded extract from a longer work, The Hope of the Resistance (formerly known as A Proper Redemption). Kylo Ren has found out, in a holocron, that Snoke purposefully manipulated him to prevent him from being used as a force for good by the Republic and new Jedi Order. Rey is concerned that she is becoming too dependent on her anger to drive her, as well as experiencing visions and voices connected to the dark side. Both Rey and Ben have found out from separate sources that they are a dyad, connected together for a purpose by the Force. Although, they don't yet know what that purpose is.
