Summary
Spike and Angelus get into another fight--much akin to the flashbacks in Destiny. This time it ends different, and Dru realizes that maybe everything will. Her gentle hands, running across a bruise, she hummed. It had been awhile since she’d seen anyone hurt like her. She wasn’t certain how like her, mustn’t look, after all, but as her fingers traced around his black eye, down his cheek, she could feel, for real, beneath her fingers someone safe. Someone who didn’t want to follow through on every shard of glass left along the aisles of the church. Someone who had seen her, sticky with her own blood, and hadn’t thought it artistry. “You’re hurt,” she breathed, “always a knight…brilliant, in the night. The one star that speaks no condemnation.” She rested herself against his chest, trying to avoid the bruising, “thank you.”
