Summary
The metallic scent of blood fills the air as the body of a man stumbles backwards, clutching his heart.
As the pitiful man takes his last breath, our gazes lock. He reaches his hand out towards me, a question in his eyes that I don’t have the answer to. They look fearful, desperate even. They’re pleading with me, begging me to prevent something even God himself couldn’t stop.
As the man’s arm falls, body going limp, I find it hard to tear my eyes away. For I know, the moment I look away, I must face an even bigger task—one I’m certain I am not prepared for.
