Summary
When Peter was eight years old, he and Ned stayed at his grandmother’s house in the suburbs for a week. On their third day staying there, they slept in a text in her backyard and watched a movie on Ned’s portable DVD player — it had been the coolest thing either of them had ever done.
The movie they watched that night had been a new release that Mrs. Leeds had bought for Ned’s big sister, who had let them borrow it. Letting them use it was a bad idea on her part, because the movie was Coraline, and it was the scariest thing little eight-year-old Peter had ever seen. He was terrified for the entire night, and when he eventually fell asleep he had nightmares about ghost souls and creepy button eyes and boys with their lips stitched together.
