And, to his credit, the demon was undeniably succeeding. Which, well… at least that made it easier for Aziraphale to stand his ground. "Being with you,” he said, speaking very slowly and clearly so that there could be no room for any misinterpretation, "is too hard. I can’t do it. Not this way."
