Summary
The short piece of Anglo-Saxon Adrian quotes is from The Ruin; I confess those lines were mainly chosen because they don't have any Anglo-Saxon characters which might mess up the coding. Wikipedia translates it as "the frosty gate with frost on cement is ravaged, chipped roofs are torn, fallen". Very like Cambridge in February, in fact. For reasons of cricket, this story is set around 10-17 February 1993. Only purists need know this.(This story was a last-minute pinch hit for Yuletide 2009. The author might just come back in the new year and file down a few of the rougher edges...)
